Abel Tasman Work Exchange

The Barn Backpackers and Campground Marahau, Nelson

Job Description

Hey!

Do you want to wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the waters of the Abel Tasman? We are looking for someone to join us at the Barn Cabins and Camping starting this week! We ask for 4 week minimum stay so if this sounds like you get in touch with your dates of availability and any experience you have.

We are looking for a fun, reliable and hard-working person who is looking to have an sweet time working right at the start of the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park.

What is the work? The work will be helping out with housekeeping, cleaning, nursery work and odd jobs to keep the place looking tidy. Currently we have some farm work that needs doing alongside the cleaning so if you're keen to do that get it touch. For this job you need to be keen to jump in, have a keen eye for detail, have a practical nature and the ability to problem solve as needed.

We provide your accommodation - the role is for 12 hours work a week (3 hours a day over 4 days) at for $23.15 per hour (gross). This is a live in-position staying in a shared facilities cabin and your accommodation and expenses will be deducted from your weekly pay which is the equivalent of the old rule working for accommodation. For this work exchange, your 12 hours a week covers your accommodation and you do your own food. You will have your own cabin which has shared facilities and a weekly roster. On busier days there is the possibility of more paid work however this is not guaranteed.

This is an onsite role where the amount worked covers full time accommodation, internet access, laundry facilities, parking, and maybe some discounts for local activities in the Abel Tasman, such as Kayaking and Skydiving. We do live rurally so being able to entertain yourself on quiet days is important too. The beautiful views and walks on our doorstep are pretty fun to explore in any weather. We have a vege garden, chickens, are starting a nursery and live by the beach!

If you have experience in housekeeping or other creative talents do let us know! We love to keep improving the Barn and bringing fresh ideas to the space. Ultimately we are really looking for the right people who want to be here. The Barn is iconic and a special experience for guests, and our staff play an integral role in that. So it is important to be really sure this is right for you and you’re not just looking for a "job" to fill time.

You must hold a working visa (Not SSE), IRD number, and bank account number. When applying please let us know your date that you are available to start and how long you plan to be around.

You can check out our website to get a feel for the place too! www.barn.co.nz

Come on over and enjoy your time in New Zealand in a beautiful and fun environment, whilst exploring the area.

Cheers,

Annie
