Want to spend your summer with a view of the water?

We are now hiring a number of fixed-term lifeguards to help operate the pools, keep people safe and ensure everyone enjoys their time in an around the water this summer. We have opportunities across all the pools we operate in Thorndon, Khandallah, Johnsonville, Tawa, Freyberg, Karori and Kilbirnie (WRAC).

We are looking for dedicated people from all walks of life who can commit for the duration of our roles from either October to April or November to March 2025.

You will have excellent verbal communication skills and enjoy providing customer care to help build trust with our pool users. Be a keen learner as we will provide all the training you will require to thrive in this role.

As part of your training, you'll gain the following qualifications at a minimum:
• First Aid Level 2 Certificate
• Pool Life Saving Practicing Certificate

Previous lifeguarding or aquatic work experience will help but is by no means necessary. We are looking for people who want to make a difference for our customers and help keep our facilities operating at the highest level.

Applicants must also have the right to work in New Zealand, be prepared to obtain and maintain a Police Vetting check, Pass Drug and Alcohol tests and a health check.

We pay our lifeguards $27.80 per hour and working for the Council offers you a range of benefits, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.

We will be reviewing applications as they come in and booking those who are successfully shortlisted into our assessment centres as we go.
