Japanese Stargazing Guide

Go Tekapo is looking for a full time Japanese speaking team member to join our stargazing team.

We have been running stargazing tours in the Mackenzie district since 2018 and have now opened a Japanese language option. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and motivated public speaker with the desire to take our Japanese activities to the next level.

Your responsibilities will be:

- Perform stargazing tours in Japanese and English to groups of up to 20 guests.
- Respond to guest enquiries via email or phone.
- Respond to all travel agent enquiries via email or phone.
- Drive guests from the check-in office to our stargazing location.
- Assist the Go Tekapo team with translating for our other activities.

The ideal candidate will have:

- A good level of both English & Japanese.
- Previous experience in tour guiding or public speaking.
- A full driver’s license.
- The desire to stay and work in Lake Tekapo for a minimum of 6 months.
- Previous knowledge of astronomy or physics is desired but not essential, on the job training will be provided.
- Photography experience for taking tour photographs.
